Frequently Asked Questions

  • EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It was developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987 as a treatment for trauma, and since then has been well-researched and used effectively for a wide range of mental health concerns.

In a nutshell, EMDR helps your brain process memories and reduce the emotional impact they have in the present moment.

    • Individual Therapy (60 minutes): $180

    • EMDR Therapy (90 minutes): $275

  • I am an in-network provider with Aetna, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Carelon, and Moda Health for clients who wish to bill insurance. Insurance only covers 60-minute sessions.

For all other insurance companies, I am currently out-of-network (OON). If I don't accept your insurance directly, many plans offer out-of-network benefits, which means your insurance will reimburse you for a large portion of our session cost—often making the cost similar to a typical co-pay.

  • Out-of-network (OON) benefits allow you to see a therapist who is not in-network with your insurance while still receiving partial reimbursement for sessions.

    With OON benefits:

    • You pay for therapy at the time of service

    • Your insurance reimburses a percentage of the cost

    • After meeting your deductible, your cost per session is often reduced

Many PPO plans include out-of-network benefits, though coverage varies by plan.

To simplify the process, I’ve partnered with Thrizer, a service that:

    • Submits claims on your behalf

    • Eliminates the need for superbills

    • Will allow you to pay a reduced session fee upfront after your deductible is met, so you only pay your estimated portion instead of the full session cost.

  • This is a common question, but there is no universal answer! The number of sessions needed varies depending on your goals and the issues you’re addressing. Some clients notice meaningful progress in a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing work. We’ll collaborate to set goals and adjust as needed.

Note: For EMDR intensives, these are short-term treatment options typically completed over 1-2 consecutive days.

  • Currently, all sessions are held online using a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.
