Trauma Therapy in Oregon

Trauma can affect how you feel in your body, how you see yourself, and how safe the world feels around you. I provide trauma therapy in Oregon via telehealth with EMDR therapy.

What Is Trauma?

Trauma occurs when an experience overwhelms the nervous system’s ability to cope. This can happen after events such as accidents, medical procedures, assaults, sudden losses, or other distressing incidents. Even when the event is “over,” the body and brain may continue to respond as if danger is still present.

Trauma symptoms may include:

  • intrusive memories or flashbacks

  • heightened anxiety or hypervigilance

  • emotional numbness or shutdown

  • panic responses

  • difficulty sleeping or relaxing

  • negative beliefs about yourself or the world

EMDR Therapy for Trauma

I primarily provide trauma therapy using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is an evidence-based approach that helps the brain process and integrate traumatic memories so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity.

My work focuses especially on supporting adults who are:

  • recovering from a stressful or traumatic experience

  • impacted by one or several events that continue to affect them

  • feeling stuck in patterns, memories, or reactions related to the past

I am best suited for clients seeking support around specific or situational experiences, rather than long-term or developmental trauma where chronic dissociation is a primary concern.

One benefit to EMDR therapy is that it does not require detailed retelling of traumatic events. Read more about EMDR therapy here.
